Lyudmila Hr. Malinova holds a degree in Bulgarian Philology from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski," a PhD in Philology, and is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Literature, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Her professional research focuses primarily on the role and position of women in literature. She is the author of the monographs "Bulgarian Women Poets Between the Two World Wars" (1999) and "Bulgarian Women Scribes and Poets (Lyrical Expressions of Bulgarian Women: 19th – Early 20th Century)" (2017), alongside numerous studies and articles in the fields of Bulgarian literary history, source studies, and literary criticism.
She has served as compiler and editor for various thematic and academic anthologies and volumes, including:
- The anthology "The Rain (The Motif of Rain in Bulgarian Poetry)" (2001)
- "The Mosaic of Memories: Vesela Vasileva Through the Eyes of Her Contemporaries" (co-edited, 2004)
- "Dimcho Debelyanov: Jubilee Volume of New Research on the Occasion of the 120th Anniversary of His Birth" (co-edited, 2009)
- "Elisaveta Bagryana: Letters" (2012)
- "With a Revivalist Spirit and a Modern Vision: Volume in Honor of Corr. Mem. Prof. Milena Tsaneva" (co-edited, 2012)
- "Women in Bulgarian Literature and Culture" (co-edited, 2018)
- "Women in Bulgarian Literature and Culture – 2" (co-edited, 2026)
She taught a specialized course titled "Bulgarian Poetry Written by Women: 19th–20th Century" at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" (2012–2020) and at the Training Centre of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (2020–2024).
