The journal Studia Litteraria Serdicensia is a periodical publication of the Institute for Literature at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It mainly presents thematic issues based on scientific conferences, of which the Institute is the organizer or co-organizer, as well as separate, different in volume studies of    narrower literary focus or broader humanitarian focus.

The journal Studia Litteraria Serdicensia is the successor of the edition News of the Institute for Literature [Известия на Института за литература], which was published between 1952 and 1972, but is adapted to the current conditions and the current requirements for international resonance of the efforts of Bulgarian humanitarian scientists. The goal is to meet the modern requirements for scientific publications and the criteria for inclusion in the international reference systems for peer-reviewed scientific publications such as Scopus and Web of Science.

The subject of the journal are all areas of literary research (theory, history, comparative studies, criticism) in the broad context of humanitarian knowledge, the interferences and interactions of literature with adjacent epistemological fields: philosophical, aesthetic, sociocultural, historical-political, etc.

The journal Studia Litteraria Serdicensia produces one or more volumes per year and each volume    contains at least 250 pages. It is published in numbered volumes online for free access, positioned on a page of its own on the Institute's website, and also in a limited print run.
