Книгата, която любознателните читатели държат в ръцете си, е първият брой от поредицата на Института за литература при БАН „Studia Litteraria Serdicensia“, която беше замислена като продължение на излизалия през 50-те и 60-те години на ХХ век годишник „Известия на института за българска литература при БАН“. В този смисъл темата на нейния първи том изглежда напълно закономерна.

Aleksandar Panov, born in 1953 in Pernik, graduated in Bulgarian Philology from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" in 1978. He earned his PhD (Candidate of Sciences) with a dissertation titled "Genres in Bulgarian Lyric Poetry at the Turn of the Century: An Essay in Historical Poetics" (1985). He became a Senior Research Fellow (Associate Professor) in 1997. He obtained his Doctor of Sciences (D.Sc.) degree with a dissertation on "The Artistic System of Botev's Poetry" (2011) and was appointed Professor of Literary Theory and History at the Institute for Literature, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, in 2012.
His primary research interests encompass literary theory, literary anthropology, genre theory, and the historical poetics of Bulgarian literature.

Ognyan Kovachev, born in 1961 in Varna, is an Associate Professor, PhD, in Classical and Western European Literature at the Department of Literary Theory, as well as founder and co-director of the Master's program "Literature, Cinema and Visual Culture" in the Faculty of Slavic Studies at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". He completed a research specialization at Christ Church, Oxford (2007), was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar and Researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA (2011), and served as a Lecturer in Bulgarian Language, Literature and Culture at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES), University College London (2009–2013). He has also taught at the Institute for Qualification and In-Service Teacher Training "Dr. Peter Beron" in Varna, Konstantin Preslavsky University of Shumen, New Bulgarian University, and South-West University "Neofit Rilski".
Primary Research Areas:
Comparative literary history, Gothic studies, film studies, literature and cinema, literary canon, translation theory, and the legacy of Petar Uvaliev.
