Rumyana Damyanova

Rumyana Damyanova is a literary scholar, literary critic, historian, and culturologist. She is a Full Professor at the Institute for Literature, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and long-standing Head of the Bulgarian National Revival Literature Department. Her work focuses on the literature and culture of the Bulgarian National Revival, as well as 19th-century cultural attitudes and behavioral models.

She served as Editor-in-Chief of the encyclopedia "Bulgarian Revival: Literature, Periodicals, Literary Life, Cultural Centers" (Vol. 1, 2014). She is the editor and compiler of numerous academic volumes and has led multiple national and international research projects.

She is the author of the monographs:

• "Iliya Volen: Literary Survey" (1981)
• "Letters in the Culture of the Bulgarian National Revival" (1995)
• "Beyond Texts: Cultural Mechanisms of the National Revival" (2004)
• "Emotions in the Culture of the Bulgarian National Revival" (2008)
• Alongside numerous academic articles and studies

She has edited and compiled collections of research dedicated to S. Belyaeva, T. Zhechev, D. Voynikov, T. Peev, Iv. Shishmanov, D. Lekov, N. Dragova, P. Stefanov, P. Dinekov, among others. In 2009, she was awarded the "Pythagoras" National Award for Outstanding Lifetime Achievement in Science.
