  • Elka Traykova is an Associate Professor, PhD, at the Institute for Literature, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Her research interests center on literary polemics, the Bulgarian literary avant-garde, the work of P. K. Yavorov, Aleksandar Balabanov, Boyan Penev, Dr. Krasteo Krastev, as well as the newspaper Razvigor, the journal Misal, alongside other key themes and prominent figures in Bulgarian cultural history.

    She is the author of the monographs:

    • "Bulgarian Literary Polemics" (2001)
    • "Zlatorog Journal and Its Editor Vladimir Vasilev" (2020, co-authored with Prof. M. Nedelchev)
    • "Literary-Historical and Critical Plots" (2021)
    • Alongside over 90 studies, articles, and reviews published in academic volumes and periodicals in Bulgaria and abroad

    She has served as the lead project coordinator for prestigious national and international research projects. From 2012 to 2020, she was the Director of the Institute for Literature, and since 2021, she has served as the Scientific Secretary for the division "Cultural-Historical Heritage and National Identity" at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL REFLECTIONS ON NEDKA KAPRALOVA

  • ABSTRACT

    The text interweaves personal memories of Assoc. Prof. Nedka Kapralova, PhD, with a presentation of her most significant literary contributions to the field of the Bulgarian National Revival. The paradoxical connections between various themes, figures, and works outlined in her research is traced here to present sketches of the colorful and multifaceted image of the National Revival period, as well as the importance of her numerous translations – some of them foundational for Bulgarian literary studies and culture.

  • ABSTRACT

    Празникът е добър повод да припомним мисията, която е обвързала личната и творческата съдба на поколения талантливи учени с Института за литераратура към Българската академия на науките. А тя е – да изследваме и да творим литература; да създаваме литературна наука, съизмерима със световните научни критерии; да съхраняваме културната памет и да я превръщаме в разпознаваем, достоен за уважение знак на националната ни идентичност. Като литературен историк познавам добре и капризите на историята, и суетата на литературата. Зная колко подозрителни са те към юбилейните равносметки. Но именно затова се усъмнявам в добре известното мнение на Гео Милев, че юбилеят „не е никакво чудо, нито загадка, нито въпрос. Напротив – една съвсем твърда, положителна черна точка, която пада като литературен надгробен камък над юбиляра си“.
